Each year, the Publication segment continues to produce a constant flow of hit titles. This can be viewed as a result of one, a cross-media strategy evolving around magazines and comics; two, harmonious relationships between authors and our editorial staff; and three, our business stance emphasizing early-stage investment in prospective talent and content.

The Group publishes SQUARE ENIX brand game-related books, including strategy guides and novelizations, periodical comic magazines and anthologies of the series appearing in those magazines, as well as operating a web magazine featuring comics, illustrations, and light novels. The Group also produces TV animations and stage plays, and designs and produces merchandise based upon the aforementioned original content.

The Group's game-related guides, such as the ULTIMANIA series and Official Complete Guide (strategy book), attract a number of customers with an unrivaled level of quality and abundance of information which only SQUARE ENIX can offer.

The Group publishes five periodical comic magazines: SHONEN GANGAN, G FANTASY, GANGAN JOKER, YOUNG GANGAN and web-magazine GANGAN ONLINE, in addition to 230+ comic books in FY2008.

Hit titles such as FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST (36+ million shipped) and DRAGON QUEST RETSUDEN ROTO NO MONSHO (15+ million shipped) have been spawned from the Group's comic magazines, and attract a number of customers through cross-media deployment such as anime, movies, and games.

To meet the ever-changing needs of our customers, the Group is also proceeding with the digital adaptation of publications for PCs and mobile phones, as well as the development of comic-related merchandise.
