Accounting Associate (Los Angeles, CA)
Summary
The Accounting Associate is mainly responsible processing daily Play Online (POL) related transactions.
Requirements:

- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Positive and professional attitude
- Strong word processing and other computer skills
- Independent worker (i.e., takes initiative and works well with little supervision)

- Japanese language skills and experience working with Japanese corporations (not required, but a plus)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and processes Play Online (POL) subscribers' chargebacks, refunds and credits by using POL accounting software, Linkpoint share website and other relevant POL system
- Download and reconcile monthly POL accounts receivable and sales data
- Prepares journal entries to book POL AR, sales, outside services, accruals, bad debt expense as appropriate for monthly and quarterly closing
- Prepares monthly POL royalty calculation and statements
- Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly reports and schedules
- Coordinates with other Online department in relation to POL-related transactions
- Processes daily POL related transactions which include, but not limited to, chargebacks and refunds/gift credits
- Completes month-end reconciliation of credit card billings (POL invoicing), sales reporting, calculation of POL-related accruals/reserve
- Prepares ad-hoc documents as requested by Card Service International, Online Department and other departments
- Prepares monthly and quarterly Online reports
- Other related duties as required
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or 2-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic PC software/hardware knowledge (including Access); proficient in Excel; Great Plains accounting software and Database software
- Experience with credit card billings for Online gaming is a plus
Merchandise Coordinator (Los Angeles, CA)
Summary
The Merchandise Coordinator implements assigned merchandising activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops new sales channels to help expand Merchandise Distribution business
- Communicates sales information, new product information and collects Purchase Orders from merchandise distributors and retailers
- Monitors merchandise distributors' and retailers' inventory and recommends adjustments to inventory, stock level and merchandise layout as needed
- Communicates decisions on customer claims on defective item exchanges with SEI's Information Center
- Works with marketing team to create new product print ads, as well as Emails newsletters to fans.
- Assists at MD consumer and business events such as Comic-con and Toy Fair.
- Handles daily communication (oral and written) with Japanese MD team.
- Other related duties as required
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Japanese language skills and experience working with Japanese corporations required
- Knowledge of SEI video games and merchandise required
- Sales experience with video games or merchandise a plus
- Able to work overtime as required
Quality Assurance Tester (Los Angeles, CA)
Summary
Responsible for the quality assurance testing of assigned console and handheld games in development for the North American market.
This is a temporary position and it is located at our Los Angeles, CA office only.
Responsibilities:
- Examines and analyzes video game content for bugs
- Documents bugs found in the games
- Writes error reports which are sent to the development team for rectification. When the error has been fixed by the development team, the QA tester verifies that the fix works properly
- Communicates with Quality Assurance team to ensure deadlines are being met
- Creates internal guides and materials
- Uploads error reports to appropriate databases. Maintains databases to ensure up-to-date information has been entered
- Conducts industry research of comparable video games by examining and evaluating competitors' games and creating game reports
- Maintains confidentiality of games that have not been released to the public
- And other related duties as required

Senior Software Engineer (Los Angeles, CA)
Job Summary
Square Enix is building a studio from the ground up. We are making an action-oriented original IP game here in sunny Los Angeles. We are looking for motivated master programmers to lay the foundation for a solid development team.
How often do you get a chance to make sure that a studio starts off in the right direction? How often do you get to be one of the starting members, but also have medical insurance? This is a rare opportunity to have the creative control of a start-up but the backing and funding of a major publisher.
Responsibilities:
- Being a core member of a game development team
- Being the lead for a particular platform or a major chunk of the code
- Creating or deciding to purchase major chunks of code
- Creating the infrastructure for efficient game development
- Hiring and mentoring other software engineers
- Coming up with and implementing gameplay
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Master of C and C++ programming
- 5+ years of experience
- At least two published games, with at least one Xbox 360 game

Software Engineer (Los Angeles, CA)
Job Summary
Square Enix is seeking a game programmer with significant C and C++ experience. Applicant would be joining a small initial team to build a studio from the ground up and should feel comfortable taking on a wide range of tasks. The ideal candidate will implement a major chunk of the engine, gameplay or both. Be a game creator, not just a programmer who writes to spec!
